Hi, I am Asawari! My pronouns are they/them/theirs. I make films and interdisciplinary projects like I make sense of the world - I tell stories that slip between formats and find their own rhythm. Raised by advertising and cinema, trained in experimental film, and tempered by years in the trenches of production, I have found my rhythm at the crossroads of culture, queerness, and storytelling. From big campaigns like Words of Pride to quiet short films like Tenfa, Bodies of Desire and The Housemaids - I build stories that move people, shift language, imagine better worlds and are stubbornly alive. I like ideas that bruise a little. I like crews that care. I believe in stories that open doors and remember names. I co-run Star Hopper Studio, a trans-led production house and creative studio.
